Docked or tendered: how you come ashore in Monaco
Port Hercule sits at the foot of the Rock, right in the heart of the Principality. Monaco now accepts only luxury and premium ships at its semi-floating sea wall, up to 250 meters and 1,250 passengers. If yours is one of them, you walk off through the cruise terminal and your guide is waiting.
Larger ships anchor offshore and tender passengers into port. When the berth is busy or the sea is rough, a docked call can switch to tenders on the day, so we follow your ship’s plan and meet you wherever you come ashore.
What can we see on a Monaco shore excursion?
- Monaco-Ville, on the Rock: the Prince’s Palace and the lanes of the Old Town.
- Monte-Carlo: Casino Square, the harbor and the streets of the Grand Prix circuit.
- The Oceanographic Museum, set on the cliff above the sea.
- Eze: the medieval village perched 430 meters above the Mediterranean.
- La Turbie: the Roman monument and views down over Monaco.
- Menton: the lemon capital of France, with its Old Town and gardens by the Italian border.
- The three Corniche roads: the Lower, Middle and Grand Corniche, cut into the cliffs between Nice and Monaco.

Monaco shore excursion questions
Do cruise ships dock or tender in Monaco?
Both. Luxury and premium ships up to 250 meters and 1,250 passengers can dock at the sea wall in Port Hercule. Larger ships anchor offshore and tender passengers ashore.
Will we be back aboard on time in Monaco?
Yes. For cruise guests, we will always do what it takes to bring you back to your ship at least one hour before departure or the last tender. We have never made a guest miss their ship.
How much time do you need for Monaco?
Monaco’s highlights fit comfortably in a half day. A full day adds Eze, La Turbie, Menton, the Corniche roads or the Italian Riviera.
Can we visit Eze on a Monaco shore excursion?
Yes. Eze sits on the Middle Corniche between Monaco and Nice, and it pairs naturally with the Palace, Monte-Carlo and Casino Square.
Can we go to Italy from Monaco?
Yes. The Italian border is just beyond Menton, so France, Monaco and Italy fit into one private day.
Can we see Monaco on foot?
Yes. Monaco-Ville, the harbor and Monte-Carlo are close together, so many guests see the Principality as a walking tour with their guide.
