Frequently Asked Questions
Everything guests ask us before they travel. If your question is not here, write to us on WhatsApp at +33 7 88 88 88 01 or at info@rivieracometrue.com and we will reply personally.
Who are the guides?
Our guides are local, official, licensed tour guides, each with at least fifteen years of experience. We never bring in seasonal drivers from abroad. They live here, and they share real local insight and explain everything along the way.
Are your guides insured?
Yes. All our guides are experienced, insured, official professionals.
Is it a guide or just a driver?
A guide. Ours do far more than drive and stop. They tell you the stories, the history and the local secrets behind each place.
Is the tour really private?
Always. It is just you and your guests, with your own guide and your own van.
Can we bring a larger group?
Of course. Beyond eight guests we add vans, two, three or as many as you need, travelling together.
Why vans and not a coach?
Large coaches are banned from many town centres, cannot reach the scenic roads and viewpoints, and have nowhere to park, so guests end up walking long distances in the heat. Our small private vans go where coaches cannot, right to the heart of each village and port.
Can you collect us from our cruise ship?
Yes. We meet you at the port of Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Villefranche, Monaco, Cap d'Ail, Menton, Saint-Tropez, Toulon or Marseille, and plan the day around your ship's timing. Send us your ship and port times when you write.
Where else can you collect us?
At any hotel, villa, rental or address on the French Riviera, Monaco and Provence.
Can the tour be tailored to us?
Yes. Every tour can be adapted or changed at any moment, or we can design a day from scratch around your interests and pace.
How long is a tour?
A half day is about 5 hours and a full day about 8 hours. A day can be extended to 12 or 13 hours.
Which languages are available?
English, French, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian and Arabic, and other languages on request.
How many guests fit in one van?
Up to eight guests, comfortably.
What is not included?
Lunch, entrance tickets, boat tickets and personal purchases are not included. Tell us what you wish for, and we will explain exactly what your day covers.
Can you recommend a restaurant?
Yes. We can suggest the right place for your day and taste, from a village table to a fine-dining address, and help with the booking.
Can your guide help with photographs?
Yes. Our guides know where the light is best and will happily take your photos at the most beautiful viewpoints. A professional photographer can also be arranged.
Can you help with other services, such as flowers, music or books?
Yes. Just write to us with what you have in mind, and we will arrange it where we can.
Can you plan something special, like a celebration or a surprise?
Yes. Tell us the occasion and we will shape the day around it with care.
What is the best time of year to visit?
The Riviera is lovely all year. Low season is especially magical, with fewer crowds, softer weather and golden light almost every day.
Do you cover Provence and Italy as well?
Yes. Beyond the Riviera and Monaco, we also take guests to Saint-Tropez, the Verdon Gorge, Grasse and the Italian Riviera.
Can we start late or end late?
Yes. Start and finish times are flexible, and a day can run long if you want to stay for the sunset.
Do you wait for us at each stop?
Yes. Your van and guide stay with you all day, so you are never rushed and never need to find a taxi.
Is a tour possible if the weather is bad?
Yes. We adapt the route on the day, with museums, covered markets, perfumeries or a long lunch if the weather calls for it.
Can you take us to places that are not in the guidebooks?
Yes. Our guides have fifteen years of local knowledge and love showing quiet villages, viewpoints and tables that most visitors never find.
How do we plan our day?
