Discover The Beautiful Hills Of The French Riviera
When most people think of the French Riviera, the stunning coastal areas of the Mediterranean come to mind. While those are must-see locations, there is actually much more to the French Riviera than just coastal towns and the Beach. With our Western Riviera tour, you will discover the beautiful rolling hills of the region further inland.
Once we pick you up in a luxury Mercedes 8-seater van, the tour will begin as you travel across a scenic seaside route to the town of Antibes. This charming town is located directly on the coast and his home to many mega-yachts, a stunning local market, and great views of the distant Alps.
The Western Riviera Tour will then have you depart your seaside location and begin to travel much further inland. As the coast begins to sink further in the distance, you will enter the Loup Valley. The Loup Valley is one of the most beautiful areas in the French Riviera. As you continue to travel through the area, the ordinary landscape will begin to turn into stunning rolling hills.
From the Loup Valley, the trip will continue as we climb higher up the mountains. The coastal trees and plants will give way to heartier trees and shrubs that can live in the much colder environment as you approach 760 meters above sea level. The first stop of the destination will be the small village of Gourdon where you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea and delicious food.
Once you leave Gourdon, your trip will take you through a scenic route featuring canyons, waterfalls, and other stunning natural features of the region, perfect for photographs. If you take this tour during the summer months of June or July, we may stop and show you some lavender fields dotting the hills before arriving at your second stop, the medieval village of Tourrettes Sur Loup, the capital of the violet flower.
In addition to walking the charming streets and enjoying time with locals, you will be able to enjoy local delicacies that feature violet flowers. Tourrettes Sur Loup has many delicacies that utilize the flower such as crystallized violet flower petals and violet liqueur, but a must-try local favorite is violet ice cream.
The last destination on this full day western French Riviera tour is the beautiful Provencal village of Saint Paul de Vence. Located high in the mountains and overlooking the sea, the town of Saint Paul de Vence attracted artists such as Chagall and Matisse who were looking for inspiration for their art.
From discovering small art galleries showcasing phenomenal to enjoying the architecture and medieval streets, you will never forget your trip to this stunning region.
From seeing some of the world’s largest yachts to discovering the rolling hills of the western French Riviera, this tour is highly recommended for anyone that wants to see the lesser known side of this beautiful region.
